Quito has kept its traditions alive. Events in Quito that were celebrated hundreds of years ago are still enjoyed in a traditional manner, and throughout the year there are several significant Quito events and celebrations taking place.

Place: Cochasqui (19 Jun 2013 - 22 Jun 2013)

This festival takes place during the June Solstice in the Archeological Complex of Cochasqui, to give thanks to the sun god for the crops.

This is a festival that takes place in Calacali, a neighborhood of Quito, to celebrate their legalization as a parish, during the month of July.

The festival takes place in the city of Otavalo in Imbabura province during the month of September. It includes folkloric parades, popular bands, and typical food.

Place: Latacunga (23 Sep 2013 - 24 Sep 2013)

Mama Negra takes place in Latacunga from September 23 to 24 each year and honors the Virgin of Las Mercedes.

Place: Quito (28 Nov 2013 - 06 Dec 2013)

Las Fiestas de Quito takes place in the capital starting on November 28th with the election of the Queen of Quito and ends on December 6th with the Fellowship Parade.

This festival takes place in Pillaro, located in the province of Tungurahua each year from January 1 to 6. It was declared Cultural Immaterial Heritage of Ecuador.
