As this tour begins at a hacienda outside of Quito, we will give you instructions to take public transportation. A private transfer can be arranged upon request.

The tour begins at approximately 10:00 am from the hacienda. Please arrive no later than 9:00 am so you can enjoy a variety of choices for breakfast.



Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours before your scheduled departure and we will refund 50%.  We cannot refund shorter notice cancellations.

Horseback Riding - 1 Day


Duration: 9 hour(s) - Location: Avenue of the Volcanoes

Our horseback riding tour is a great way to experience the stunning landscape of the Andes where you'll enjoy incredible views of the snow-covered volcanoes. We offer excellent quality horses that are well trained and ideal for all riders, from novice to expert.

The tour begins with a quick lesson in a safe enclosure with the help of an experienced guide. This is to allow riders to gain confidence with the horses. The trail begins at the PapaGayo Hacienda and will lead you toward the many volcanoes in the area such as Corazón and llinizas. From the trail, you will also have great views of both the famous Cotopaxi and Ruminahui. Along the way, enjoy a picnic lunch that will be provided.

Itinerary

  • 9:00 am -  Arrive at PapaGayo Hacienda (transportation not included) and have breakfast (not included)
  • 10:00 am - Begin riding instruction in an enclosed arena
  • 11:00 am - Ride towards volcanoes
  • 12:00 pm - Lunch
  • 1:00 pm - Continue riding
  • 5:30 pm - Return to the hacienda
  • 6:00 pm - Either stay at the hacienda or return to Quito (not included)

All times are approximate EXCEPT starting time.

Should you decide to return to Quito, you will be dropped off at your hotel.

Included in the package: Experienced bilingual guide, instructional lesson in riding, box lunch.

We strongly recommend you rent chaps to protect your legs from either dirt or injury.  You can rent them for an extra price of $8 a day, just notify the staff.  We also supply helmets free of charge.

It is important that you have current travel insurance including personal medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
